As it turns out, the end of mission of the Cosmos-2445 satellite, which de-orbited on February 23, 2009, was not quite normal. Its re-entry capsule landed in Bashkortostan in Russia, not in Kazakhstan, as these satellites normally do. The capsule reportedly landed at about 19:15 MSK (16:15 UTC).
The landing created a mini-sensation for residents of the nearby villages - Aitovo, Dyusyanovo, and others, who took a few photos of the capsule before it was taken away by the military next morning. A brief report about the landing with more photos is posted at the web site of Bizhbulyak, which is not far from Aitovo (a very nice site, by the way).
