The Space Forces will launch a Molniya-M launcher with a military satellite (likely to be designated Cosmos-2422) from Plesetsk in July. It looks like it is going to be a new US-KS/Oko early-warning satellite. Although a launch of some kind of a new early-warning satellite has been expected for a while, this launch has not been publicly disclosed until a few days ago. This does not seem to be an unexpected change of plans - the two US-KS satellites currently in orbit, Cosmos-2388 and Cosmos-2393, seem to be functioning normally. The third satellite in the early-warning constellation, the geostationary Cosmos-2379 of the US-KMO system, also seems to be alive.

Does this mean the Russians are updating the missle-launch warning system over the US?
Yes, that's the system. But let's wait for the launch.
