Now that the plans to build a MOX fabrication plant in Russia all but collapsed, Rosatom officials are hinting that they would like to use the BN-800 fast breeder reactor to burn the weapon plutonium. Using plutonium breeder to burn plutonium is certainly an interesting idea, but there is nothing that would make it impossible. The only problem right now is that the new reactor is unlikely to materialize before 2010, if ever - the project has not been funded yet.
