The Voronezh-class early-warning radar in Lekhtusi has been officially accepted for combat service on December 23, 2009. The radar first began operations in December 2005 and has been working in "experimental combat" mode, with the military crews and representatives of the industry working side by side, since December 2006. Now it has been turned over to the Space Forces.

The radar closes the gap in the early-warning coverage that was created when the radar in Skrunda, Latvia was shut down.
