On September 19, 2009 President of Russia appointed Major-General Anatoli Zhikharev the commander of the Strategic (Long-Range) Aviation. This is the post of the commander of the 37th Air Army of the Supreme High Command (Strategic) of the Russian Air Force. General Zhikharev replaced Pavel Androsov, who occupied this position since 15 May 2007.
