On December 8th, 2007 the Rocket Forces successfully launched a Topol/SS-25 missile. The launch took place at 17:43 MSK (14:43 UTC) from the Kapustin Yar test site. The missile warhead successfully reached its designated target at the Kura test site at Kamchatka.
According to a representative of the Rocket Forces, the test was performed "to confirm technical characteristics of the missile and to test various measurement systems used by the military", as well as "missile defense countermeasures employed by ICBMs and SLBMs".
UPDATE 12/09/07: It appears that the report about Kura was wrong. The test likely involved a flight from Kapustin Yar to Sary-Shagan, just like a test on November 1, 2005 and, to some extent, the one on April 22, 2006.

interesting news. was this launch part of their routine tests to check the condition of their missiles or could it be part of a series of experiments for the development of future ICBM systems? Anyway, what information do we have about the RS-24? Was it a completely new missile or just a derivative of the Topol-M with the MIRV? If so, then are there any reductions in its shielding and countermeasures?
> It would not be able to see the flights from Plesetsk, though.
- Have Stare in Norge, - will be able.
"The missile warhead successfully reached its designated target at the Kura test site at Kamchatka."
The official information in this respect is not present. Why not Sary-Shagan (Balhash), how last time?

Pavel:
Would a different kind of radar, rather than the X-Band system now envisioned, at the Czech Republic (CR) site have greater coverage of Russian missile launches? A broader based search radar system for example? And, what conclusions do you reach on the proposed American system in the CR? Is it really a "danger" to the Russian ICBM force?

To Gradient: Thank you for pointing that out. I relied on a Novosti Kosmonavtiki news report, which mentioned Kura, but you are right - it is not mentioned elsewhere. It does seem to be a test that is similar to the one in 2005. I'll update the post.
