At 12:00 MSK (09:00 UTC) on October 29, 2007 the Strategic Rocket Forces and the Space Forces successfully launched an SS-19 (UR-100NUTTH) missile from a silo launcher at the Baykonur test site. The missile warhead was reported to reach the designated point at the Kura test range at the Kamchatka Peninsula. Previous test launch of a missile of this type was conducted on November 9, 2006. The Rocket Forces reported that the test would allow extending service life of missiles of this type to 31 years.

Gen. Solovtsov approves, that a SS-19 (together with SS-18) will be replaced with RS-24. Solovtsov predicts, that RS-24' full tests will be limited to 5 starts and 3 years on time.

Does the fact that there was only one warhead imply that there are still some of the 5-8MT single warhead SS-19's remaining? I should think that would be a valuable hard target asset as the US has nothing larger than 475KT.
Jon Grams:
Jon, I will defer to Pavel of course but I remember several discussions here regarding Russian missile test of MIRV-capable systems where only one test-warhead was used. My memory is that such tests are the norm for SS-18-19s.

It's not that I have any inside information on that...
Yes, only one warhead was mentioned in the report. The last year test also apparently involved only one warhead. My guess would be that the reason is that a test warhead is used. They are testing the missile, not the bus or RVs.
As for SS-19, it has never been deployed with a single warhead.
Pavel Podvig said "As for SS-19, it has never been deployed with a single warhead.".
Sorry, but both SS-19 mod.1 (MIRVed with 6 RVs) and SS-19 mod.2 (single 5 Mt RV) were deployed from 1974 until approximately 1979. Since 1980 these missiles were refurbished in silos and equipped with new RVs and navigation systems - SS-19 mod.3 (UR-100 N UTTKh) is the result.
I know that U.S. intelligence has always believed that there was a single-warhead version of SS-19, but the Soviet records show no signs of it. As I understand, the missile, even if tested, had never been deployed.
