The Strategic Rocket Forces plan to extend the service life of the UR-100NUTTH/SS-19 missile to 35 years, which would allow to keep that missile in service until 2019. In 2008 the service life was reported to be 33 years, although a year ago the Rocket Forces said that it was 32, but expected to be extended to 33 years.

The Rocket Forces also confirmed the plan to extend the service life of R-36M2/SS-18 missiles to 30 years, so it would stay in service until 2022.

Topol missiles will also stay in service until 2019, when they will be replaced by RS-24 Yars.
