On November 14, 2012 at 15:42:46 MSK (11:42:46 UTC) the Space Forces carried out a successful launch of a Soyuz-2.1a launcher from the launch pad No. 4 of the launch complex No. 43 of the Plesetsk space launch site. The launcher, equipped with a Fregat booster stage, delivered into orbit a new military communication satellite of the Meridian type.
The satellite received NORAD number 38995 and the international designation 2012-063A. The satellite is known as Meridian-6. Previous attempt to launch a Meridian satellite took place in December 2011 - the satellite failed to reach its orbit. The most recent successful launch of a Meridian satellite took place in May 2011.
