At 03:23 MSK on September 12, 2013 (23:23 September 11, 2013 UTC) the Air and Space Defense Forces successfully launched a Rocket launcher from the launch pad No. 3 of the launch complex No. 133 of the Plesetsk test site. The rocket and the Briz-KM boost stage delivered into orbit three Gonets-M satellites.

Gonets-M satellites will join the Gonets-D1M low-Earth orbit communication system. The developer, the Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems, expects to complete deployment of the constellation of 12 satellites in 2015. ISS is also working on a Gonets-1M satellite. The Gonets system has a military counterpart, Strela-3. In the most recent launch that involved these satellites, which took place in July 2012, a Rockot launcher deployed two Gonets-M and one Strela-3 satellite.

Rockot is a UR-100NUTTH/SS-19 ICBM modified to serve as a space launcher.
