On October 18, 2007, the Strategic Rocket Forces conducted a successful test launch of a Topol/SS-25 missile. The launch took place at 9:10 MSK (05:10 UTC) from a mobile launcher at the Plesetsk test site. It was reported that the missile warhead successfully reached its intended target at Kamchatka.

A Strategic Rocket Forces representative was quoted as saying that the launch allowed to extend Topol's service life to 21 year. A possibility of extending it to 23 years was mentioned as well (it was also mentioned at the time of previous Topol test launches in August 2006 and November 2005). First Topol missiles began service in July 1985.
